The Power of Reading Books @ Night of Impact, Morogoro by Shemeji Melaye...

INTRODUCTION

Books have been the greatest source of knowledge. It is still used in schools and in all learning institutions. Francis Bacon has ever said “knowledge is power”. There is a sure power in knowledge. All great men and women are good readers. All great leaders are desperate readers. If you want to be a leader in any career in your life, you don’t have to escape knowledge.   The wonderful thing about books is this; its knowledge is ordered. Authors don't rush and write books. They take obsessive focus on what they want people to read.
Don’t take books for granted. Reading is the habit like any other habit. You replace habit by habit. Habit of not reading books is  replaced by habit of reading books so cultivate the habit of reading books daily.

THE POWER OF READING BOOKS!
Dr. David Oyedepo insisted “Knowledge Brings Transformations but Revelations Brings Revolutions”
Knowledge increase your confidence power!
You have more confidence over things that you know than those you are ignorant about. Confidence get out when awareness (knowledge) is not at place.
Knowledge  increase your influence!
Knowledge takes you places who have never dreamed of.
You connect yourself with the author!
You can read his mind in your room  through his/her book.
Knowledge sharpen your skills!
God himself put details in books!
(Exodus 32:33 [KJV]) And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
Quick and cheap access to great discoveries!
Hidden things and revelations have been printed in books!
Leaders are readers. You can’t lead if you don’t read!
You need to be informed to dominate the area you are leading.

HOW TO BECOME A READER
This principles are not universal but they have helped me growing my habit of reading books to the extent that when I just see a book I want to know the contents
1. FIND THE BOOKS OF THE THINGS YOU LIKE FIRST
Start to read the books of your topics of interest, it can on your studies, finances, psychology, self development, motivation and so forth. You will find a new hope of reading more because things that you like will become more clearer to you.
2. START WITH SMALL BOOKS WITH FEW PAGES
Don't start with big books with hundred pages. Take some pamphlets, small journals, small books and determine to finish them.
3. READ DAILY
Make the habit of reading at least few pages daily. Before you retire to bed or after you wake up in the morning make a book your friend. Read few pages of your favorite book or topic.
4. ENGAGE YOUR MIND IN THINKING AFTER READING
Thinking is like digesting and assimilating what you have read. It will run diffuse into your subconscious mind. Those who think and meditate what they have been reading cannot forget easily. It will improve your memory.

5. START TO SHARE WHAT YOU KNOW
The more you tell others what you have been reading, you are self esteem start to rise. You seek to know a lot of things or going more deeper until you become a master in your field. Do not try to be selfish. Knowledge is for sharing.
“Every man who knows how to read has power to magnify himself, to multiply the ways in which he exists, to make his life full, significant and interesting” Aldous Huxley
“When books are opened we discover that we have wings”
--Helen Hayes
